Revolutionary handrail lighting by KLIK

Wink’s exclusive partnership with KLIK Systems in Ireland

The significance of reliable handrail lighting cannot be overstated, as it plays a critical role in reducing accidents and enhancing safety. A superior handrail lighting system must possess attributes that encompass ease of installation and maintenance, while providing optimal lighting for the specific environment in which it is deployed. It should effectively minimise glare for users and exhibit environmental friendliness by preventing light spillage.

In line with these requirements, Wink is proud to have an exclusive partnership with KLIK Systems in Ireland. KLIK’s handrail light has been honoured with the prestigious accolade of Best Exterior Building Product at the RIAI awards, affirming its exceptional qualities.

The LEDpod, a remarkable creation by KLIK, is meticulously designed to enhance safety in public spaces. By integrating multiple LED lights within the handrail, it effectively illuminates the area underneath, thereby providing a heightened level of visibility and ensuring a secure environment for individuals.

KLIK Systems is a renowned manufacturer of handrail lighting, offering a range of products such as the Pod Light 40 and Pod Light 50. Their designs have received acclaim for their award-winning utilisation of the innovative Pod Light technology.

Wink has successfully incorporated KLIK’s LEDpod in various projects, including notable installations such as the Stockingfield Bridge in Glasgow, the Kilkenny Pedestrian Bridge, St Canice’s Steps, and Facebook’s Headquarters in Dublin 2.

The LEDpod is available in two angle options: asymmetric and symmetric. Installation is remarkably simple, with each fitting consuming only 1.9 watts of power. Additionally, it features a control mechanism that allows for light reduction when the bridge or stairs are unoccupied.

The LEDpod eliminates the need for separate visual fittings, as the cabling is discreetly enclosed within the handrail. Remote drivers can be conveniently positioned up to 20 meters away, and the fittings boast an impressive lamp life.

Each LED within the pod emits light asymmetrically, ensuring maximum illumination and a uniform spread. This cutting-edge technology surpasses standard symmetrical LEDs, which often waste around 50% of the light output. The asymmetrical lighting design effectively eliminates glare for users. Furthermore, each LEDpod is certified to have a lifespan of 50,000 hours.

The installation process is remarkably straightforward. A simple hole is drilled according to the fitting’s specifications, which are determined offsite. Cables are easily threaded through the rail, and the fittings securely clip into place.

The fitting has an RGBW option as well . Its extensive application includes general illumination and providing emergency lighting solutions for both exit ramps and stairways.
