Wink lights up the historical Parnell Bridge in Wicklow Town, part of a town project to light up monuments and buildings of historical interest.
The project is led by the Wicklow Town Team that consists of shop owners, small businesses and publicans who want to do improve the visual aesthetic of the town.
We are working with them and the council in developing a scheme which involves seven different features of the town including bridges, places of interest, churches, and statues. The aim is to integrate lighting these into the overall plan. There is a close collaboration between the main designers and architects as well as the engineers and town teams where relevant.
Our brief is to illuminate features of interest around the town comprised of the Parnell Bridge, Blackcastle, the old Stone Bridge, Wicklow Gaol, the Billy Byrne monument, the Church of Ireland and Catholic Church.
We are using Casambi bluetooth wireless control to incorporate a colour changing facility and this will allow the landmarks to be illuminated in particular colour such as green for St Patrick’s Day.”
The lighting of landmarks has several purposes:
Increases visibility
Enhances appearance
Positive for Tourism and
Highlights landmarks of cultural or historical significance
