Congratulations to Howley Hayes Cooney and the OPW who were joint winners of the RIAI Architecture Awards 2021 in the category Public Space for their refurbishment of King John’s Castle in Carlingford in Co Louth. Wink provided the lighting design for the project.

The brief was full feature lighting design both internally and externally which commenced in 2015 & was installed in 2019.

We decided to use a warm colour temperature while light on the external facade and cool colour temperature on the internal walls
which created contrast and depth of fields.

The lighting also has the flexibility to be able to change colour for special occasions like St Patrick’s Day.
