Costello Memorial Chapel, Leitrim

Client: Mr. Costello

Architects: MS Architects

Brief: Working on the smallest chapel in Ireland was a pleasure. As always church lighting design is one of our favorite project types. In the late 1800’s, Edward Costello, a town businessman, built as a memorial and burial crypt for his late beloved wife Mary Josephine. Edward himself was later entombed in the Chapel in one of the largest funerals held in Carrick-on-Shannon for the time.

The Costello Memorial Chapel in Co Leitrim is believed to be one of the smallest chapels in the world. It is just  sixteen feet long by twelve foot wide and thus covers an area of 192 feet.

Wink was delighted to provide lighting design to this unique building.
