Brief: To design, supply and maintain a working time piece. The lighting on the town hall is synchronised to the bell tower and has the capability to blink with it. The LED lighting allows for the building to change with time instantly, blinking in time with the chime, or it can be white light only when required. The design took into account that the clock tower and the bell associated with the time is seen from and heard from the pier and the harbour in general. Now the face is like a miniature light house telling the time in code . The consumption on the building prior to the change over to LED lighting was 3,000 watts and now runs at around 900 watts depending on the colour combination. The system has a dedicated touch screen computer with a selection of programmes synchronised to the chime for exact coordination with the time. There are programmes for the various events , Paddies Day , Christmas time , The Festival of World Cultures etc. It is a simple process which John on the front desk can change by the push of a button.
