Luxury Coastal Residence, Co. Clare

Contemporary Lighting Design & Intelligent Casambi Control

Set against the breathtaking landscape of Ireland’s west coast, this luxury holiday home in County Clare required a lighting scheme that would complement its natural surroundings while delivering exceptional flexibility, comfort and control.

As the homeowners live abroad, remote access to the lighting was an essential part of the brief. They wanted the freedom to manage individual spaces, create different moods and control the lighting from anywhere in the world. The Casambi smart lighting control system provided the ideal solution, combining intuitive operation with sophisticated lighting control.

Wink Lighting was appointed to provide the complete lighting design for the property’s rebuild, along with the supply and commissioning of the Casambi control system.

The design brief called for a contemporary, understated approach, with architectural lighting discreetly integrated wherever possible. Carefully positioned linear LED lighting creates subtle layers of illumination, while striking feature pendants introduce drama and visual interest. The result is a refined lighting scheme that enhances the architecture without competing with the surrounding landscape.

Flexibility was particularly important in the main open-plan living space, where lighting needed to adapt effortlessly to everyday activities. Using Casambi, bespoke lighting scenes were programmed for different occasions, from food preparation and entertaining to quiet evenings spent relaxing. These personalised scenes allow the homeowners to transform the atmosphere at the touch of a button.

For added convenience, the system offers both app-based control and wireless kinetic switches. The switches were carefully selected to complement the finish of the electrical sockets, ensuring a consistent aesthetic throughout the home. Remote access also allows the owners to manage their lighting while abroad, providing convenience and peace of mind.

Following installation and commissioning, Wink Lighting provided comprehensive training on the Casambi app and wireless switches, ensuring the homeowners could confidently enjoy the full capabilities of their new lighting system.

The completed project brings together discreet architectural lighting, elegant decorative features and intelligent control to create a welcoming, adaptable home that responds beautifully to its coastal setting.
