Wink provided the lighting design and controls for Terryland Castle on the outskirts of Galway in late 2022.
Terryland Castle presented a set of unique challenges. One of the notable challenges was the proximity of the structure to the motorway, requiring careful consideration to ensure that the lighting installation did not cause distractions for passing motorists.
To address this concern, a selection of beam angles and anti-glare baffles was utilised as a solution. These particular measures helped to eliminate any potential glare from the lighting installation, mitigating the risk of distracting drivers on the motorway. By implementing the anti-glare baffle, we were able to strike a balance between illuminating the castle effectively while maintaining the safety and focus of motorists traveling nearby.
By incorporating Casambi control into the lighting control, the need for on-site adjustments and scenario changes was significantly reduced. To enhance operational efficiency, a total of twenty-seven timed events for various events were preprogrammed into the Casambi network. This automation allowed for seamless and precise execution of lighting scenarios at predetermined times.
Furthermore, remote access through the Casambi gateway provided the flexibility to handle unique, one-off events that required specific lighting configurations. With this remote access capability, the lighting system could be easily managed and customised as per the requirements of these special occasions.
The integration of Casambi control not only streamlined the overall lighting operations but also increased the system’s adaptability to cater to different event scenarios. It offered a convenient and efficient solution for managing and optimising the lighting effects at Terryland Castle, ensuring that each event was accompanied by the perfect illumination and ambiance.
